Danforth Jr Arrives in Hawaii Cottage Stay with Views of Mutual Interest

E P Danforth Jr and his family reached vd Zealandia yesterday and took a cottage at the Hawaiian. He is senior member of BE P Danforth Son of San Francisco, pioneers in bonded warehouse business since the fifties. His father helped build San Francisco and has held many offices. Danforth favors annexation but doubts action this session amid Cuban crisis. He criticizes Southern Pacific rates, noting trade flowing to Seattle Tacoma and Portland. The Klondike rush expected to surge again in June and July.

Maiden run of the 47 ton Reciprocity engine on Outu road

Yesterday Master Mechanic Roberts tested the new 47 ton engine Reciprocity on the Outu road. The heavy locomotive performed perfectly and will enter active service as soon as the road reaches Waialua, about a month away.
