Firehouse Delay and Horse Speed Reports

The fire origin and damage totals are unclear. Delays by steam engines were linked to distance from stable to the lower engine house. Observers reached Second and Division Streets after the alarm and saw horses ridden fast as riders feared breaking street rules. The engineer acted promptly and began firing up at the engine house.
