In Spencer County a cluttered inland post at White River hosts troops under General James C. Veatch including regiments 50th Indiana 27th Wisconsin 23rd Wisconsin 20th and 33d Iowa and 7th Ohio. Letters arrive from Evansville Journal reviving home memories as officers bond with old friends at camp.
The Louisville Journal reports on Commonwealth of Kentucky vs Caroline Miller and Clara Singer her accessory for murder of Miller's father. The case details a plan to poison the father using rat poison and arsenic obtained via Clara Singer, with the girl failing to poison a dinner and his death ensuing from arsenic poisoning.
The Common Council orders owners of all lots on the north side of Ninth Street from Fourth to Fourth to repair and straighten the sidewalks within thirty days. The Clerk notes the decree dated February 20. Deputy City Clerk A. M. McGurrin signs the notice.
