Meyerson Joins Lake Region News Advertising Staff

Orioles win Tournament for Eustis in Top Team finale

The Eustis Major Division Orioles, coached by Jim Adams and Neal Barrow, defeated Rolling Hills of Orlando 3 to 1 to claim the right to continue in the Top Team Tournament. Robbie Ball pitched a no hit bid and hit a fourth inning homer, with Dennis Smith homering in the ninth to seal the win. Next game is Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Ocoee. The Eustis Cubs won senior division and will play in Casselberry on Saturday July 1 at 4 p.m.

Deadline set July 3 for Lake Region papers

The news and advertising deadline for Lake Region News and Lake Region Adver tiser moves to noon Monday July 3 due to the July 4 holiday. Florida teachers Robert Alderman and William C. Kelsey join 27 colleagues in a National Science Foundation Oceanography Summer Institute at Florida State University from June 18 to July 29. New residents include Ed Folley and spouse moving from Minnesota to Pine Ridge Road Three Lakes Subdivision, J J Rhyne from Norman Oklahoma to 514 Washington, Betty Jane Robinson from California to Grand Island Shores, and Gerald Hutcheson from Dublin Georgia at 501 Hill. Miss Rayburn Elected to House in Girls State Program

Miss Priscilla Rayburn returned from Tallahassee where she attended Girls State a government program by the American Legion Auxiliary now in its 22nd year. She was elected to the House of Representatives and served as director of public works for the mythical Wakulla city whose inspectors rated the city twice. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs John M Rayburn of Eustis.

Last rites for L L Polk of Eustis noted

Eustis businessman and church leader L L Polk died at a local hospital at age 70. He lived at Crooked Lake Estates and served as deacon for 35 years at First Baptist Church. Polk held Gulf Oil roles since 1920 and led Lake County Fair Association from 1939 to 1967. Funeral set for First Baptist Church of Eustis.
