Two Eustis juniors, Mike O'Conner and Bob Bowen, were chosen for county roles at the Florida Boys State held on the Florida State University campus. Bowen also won a Councilman post. The program, sponsored by American Legion posts, educates 438 high school juniors in government by simulating a 49th state with mythical counties.

R N Dillard Killed Tuesday By Lightning
Robert Neal Dillard aged 62 was killed instantly by lightning Tuesday afternoon while on his tractor near his home on Highway 19 between Eustis and Umatilla. The bolt split his hat crown and hurled him about 50 feet before the disc struck an orange tree. Sheriff’s Deputy D R Sewell investigated. Survivors include his father wife one son three brothers three sisters and several nieces and nephews.

National Phone System to Be in Effect Here
W. T. McDaniel of the Florida Telephone Corporation told the Kiwanis Club that a national toll dialing system will be ready in Eustis in about four months. Operators will dial directly to any U S city without intermediate steps. A commercial office will open soon with an open house to mark full service at completion.

New Florida Fishing Licenses On Sale Statewide
Florida residents and visitors must obtain new fresh water fishing licenses effective July 1. From June 15 to July 1 both old 1955 56 and new 1956 57 licenses are honored. First Federal Declares 3 Percent Semiannual Dividend
At a board meeting the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Eustis declared a 3 percent per annum semiannual dividend.
