Bus Chamber of Commerce elects new directors and outlines year

The annual meeting in June at Grandview Hotel featured James B. Keith of the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce on civic pride and cooperation. Ten new directors were elected: A. H. Ashford, Robert Ferran, W. A. Hunter, D. A. Monteith, L. L. Polk, G. M. Bronson, Phil Goddard, Frank Isted, Richard T. Mullins and B. E. Thompson. The group reported on pest control, National Guard support, Christmas promotions, Round-up sales, a two color tourist folder, Labor Day events, and plans for a new chamber office by the railroad depot. Stores will close July 5 for July 4 observances.

Eus tis Chamber of Commerce Business Promotion Committee held a kick off breakfast at the Grandview Hotel to promote a Bargain Round-up set for July 2 3. Guy Merry chaired the event and Winston Pendleton outlined plans and provided workers with contact lists for the sales days. Local National Guard pay day on July 1 prompted the two day event. Gaylord Heads Presbyterian Men Council in Florida

Harry E. Gaylord of Eustis was elected president of the newly formed Council of Presbyterian Men of the Synod of Florida during the Laymen's Retreat at Mount Plymouth Hotel Sorrento on June 20. Carl L. Ferran was chosen vice president and Dr Merle H. Anderson reported on the Seattle General Assembly.

Miss Craycraft Dies Suddenly

Patricia Jean Craycraft age 20 of Eustis died suddenly Tuesday morning in Gainesville Florida. Survived by mother Mildred Craycraft and brother Robert of Eustis. Funeral 10 a.m. Thursday at Wm Zeller Funeral Home with Dr Merle H. Anderson officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery.

Eustis Chamber Elects Goddard President For 1948-49

The 1948-49 board of directors met at the American Legion Building and elected Phil Goddard to the presidency. Roy Sample was named vice president and H. Frank Isted treasurer. The group supported funding for the Eustis High School softball diamond including grandstands lighting and related facilities.

New Rules of Citrus Mutual Are Received

The Florida Citrus Mutual released copies of new by-laws and marketing agreements inviting at least 75 percent of the state's growers shippers and packers to participate. The reorganization puts growers in control with an all grower board and aims to reduce waste through cooperative effort. R Getford Jr Hurt in Truck Accident Near Home

Roger Getford Jr. suffered a fractured pelvis and bruises when a wheel passed over him after he fell from his father's truck near their home last Saturday. He was taken to Waterman Memorial Hospital for treatment and is recovering.

Summer pest control spray program underway in Eustis

The city of Eustis has begun a two week summer spray program under city manager R L Maynard. It targets unscreened or partially screened houses with no cost to homeowners upon request. County Health Dept provides materials and the city covers labor. Last year 4763 houses were sprayed countywide. Call R L Maynard to enroll.
