Cassia Post Office Redesignated Rural Branch at Tan ner Grocer
The Cassia Post Office is redesignated as a rural branch located at Tanner Grocer with Mrs. Charles Tanner in charge. Cassia retains its identity and letters, but many residents prefer Star Route, Eustis for mail. The tiny 10 by 14 foot building, built by the Smiths, closes after 82 years of service and a flag is lowered at half mast in farewell.

Hunters plan Florida bear managed hunts this fall
Florida officials announced 28 bear hunts across Apalachicola and Osceola National Forests from September 19 to November 5. Each three day hunt caps at 17 participants unless approved by the hunt supervisor. applications due August 26 with a $50 party per match. Steve Isted and Bill Calvin will attend the 23rd Annual Key Club International Convention in Chicago at the Conrad Hilton Hotel June 26 to 29. City closes Badger Avenue deed to First Methodist Church
