Lake County Press Association to Meet Friday

The organizational meeting of the Lake County Press Association will be held at the Community Building in Mount Dora at 6 30 p m. Lou Heaton of Mount Dora, longtime classified advertising manager of the New York Herald Tribune, will be the evening speaker. Mount Dora Topic will follow the meeting with a dinner.

Eustis Students Travel to Leesburg for Red Cross Tests

A group of Eustis boys and girls visited the Leesburg pool on Saturday to complete Red Cross requirements. Perry Kirkland and Marliene Brainard passed the senior life saving tests. Several students progressed from rank to swimmer rank including H. L. Barrow, Billy Barnes, Janet Ferran, Harriett Hannah, Joe Loy, Billy Hauserman, Tom Tippins, Bobby Pe and Jim Sanders.

Judges Named for JayCees "Bull" Contest in Eustis

Judges Clyde Ransick Herb Poorman and Jim Dickson were named to judge the JayCees "Throw the Bull" contest. A bronze statue of a man throwing a bull is displayed downtown and will be awarded to the best bull thrower. Entries require a 50 cent fee and may be submitted to the Eustis News in Eustis Florida. Wilkerson Speaks To Kiwanis Club On Flag Day

Accident Causes $300 Damage at Clifford and Grove

Damage estimated at $300 resulted from a Tuesday afternoon collision at the Clifford and Grove intersection. W. S. Serviss and Bill collided in separate cars, causing the mishap.

Sight Fund Race Aids Blind in Eurtis July 4 Jamboree

Profits from a gopher race to be held during the Annual Jamboree of the Eurtis Lions Club will fund sight conservation efforts and aid to the blind in Eurtis. The drive targets eyeglasses and medical care for the needy in the area.

City Softball Season Opens Here Friday

Council to Revise Codes in Eustis

Eustis City Council moved to draft a master electrical and plumbing code with inspectors. City Manager R L Maynard, Councilman George Pierce, and City Attorney C Harold Hippler formed a committee to consult plumbers and electricians and discuss permits and inspections.

Baseball School Begins July 5

A baseball school for fourth to sixth graders runs 9 to 10 30 a m Monday through Friday at the high school field starting July 5. A softball league is now in session each morning at the field.

Local unit seeks 36 recruits for 79 man quota

The 3rd Battalion 124th Infantry launches an intensified recruiting drive to add 36 men to reach a total of 79. The age range is 17 to 35 for both veterans and non veterans, with openings in clerical, linesman, switchboard, intelligence, engineer, radio operator and maintenance roles. Unit members earn 2.50 to 8 weekly at the Eustis Gun Club 8 to 10 25 p.m. July 22. Field training at Fort Jackson provides Army pay from 45 to 145 for master sergeant.
