Dudley Gray son of Mr and Mrs Gare Gray of Bates Ave Eustis received the Mac Short Memorial Award for a winning design of a Torsion Bar Suspended Boat at the SAE banquet in Los Angeles May 8 Gray a senior at California State Polytechnic College San Luis Obispo majoring in mechanical engineering The award given annually by the Southern California SAE honors the student member contributing most to engineering in the prior year per the SAE governing board.

City sets record for water usage in May in Eustis
The Eustis Water Department pumped 100 295 000 gallons in May, a city record for any month. May may also set a dry weather record as rainfall was limited to about one inch by month end. Residents faced yard and grove stress while utilities benefited from higher water use. the city added 42 feet of 1 inch service line, 3 new meter taps, and 3 sewer taps, bringing total meters to 3588.
