Eustis Men Attend Presbyterian Church Retreat

A large delegation from First Presbyterian Church of Eustis will attend the Laymen's Council retreat at Lake Alfred Hotel Florida this weekend. Key speakers include Weyman C. Huckabee and Harry Gaylord of Eustis. leaders from the Laymen's movement and Presbyterian Men will address sessions Saturday 2:30 to 4 p.m. and Sunday afternoon.

Local National Guard Seeks 36 Recruits in Area Drive

The 3rd Battalion 124th Infantry launches an intensified recruiting drive to fill 36 more positions, aiming for a unit quota of 79. Targets include Mount Dora, Tavares, Astatula, Eustis, and Umatilla with ages 17 to 35. Roles include clerical and technical posts. pay ranges from 2.50 to 8 per drill, with higher rates for senior ranks. Training at Ft. Jackson begins July 22 for two weeks.

Lake County road budget totals 2.43 million dollars

Eustis Chamber Dinner Set For June 26

The Eustis Chamber of Commerce annual membership dinner is scheduled for Monday June 26 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. Rev. Arthur Rich of Leesburg will speak with musical entertainment by the JayCees. Advance reservations are available at the Chamber office and committee members Leslie Huffstetler Guy Merry and Warner Dillard oversee dinner arrangements with board elections held at the event.

City Awards Pipe Contract for 2500 Feet of Water Line

Central Foundry Co of Holt Alabama won the bid at 1.38 per foot for 2500 feet of six inch water pipe, beating U S Pipe Co at 1.44. The pipe is the same as currently in use in Orlando and St Augustine. R F Garcia leads the Daytona Beach office. The council also heard about taxi space, police staffing, and tax collections at 94 percent. Floyd Irvin seeks a two inch extension along Washington Avenue to Lake Joanna, offering to furnish 1825 feet of pipe and meters for future homes with city tap rights at about 200 to the city and 700 to Irvin.
