Seven Eustis graduates receive associate arts degrees at LS College
Seven Eustis graduates are among Lake Sumter Junior College's 54 strong class set to earn Associate of Arts degrees. The June 4 ceremony at First Baptist Church Leesburg features Kenneth G. Skaggs as speaker and Dr. Paul P. Williams conferring degrees. The Eustis grads are Frances Liddell Abel, Carol Hayford Gill, Cyril Lee Mundell Jr., Jerome Wayne Parker, Timothy Joe Phillips, Robert John Stahl and Florence Louise Terrell. Five Umatilla students also receive degrees: Janet Sue Baker, Moreland Lee Coates, Thomas John Harrison, Myra Jane Kenney and Mary K. Thomas.

James C. Oliver of Waterman Memorial Hospital was named president of the Eustis Junior Chamber of Commerce after years with the Eustis Group and Tampa JC's. He helped recruit eight new active members and won a Nassau trip with his wife Marian in a membership drive. Deborah Sterling, 11, drowned at Lake Joanna during a school picnic. Rescue teams operated after the 2:23 p.m. call. body recovered at 3:45 p.m. Mrs. Sterling teaches at the Dora Christian Home and Bible School. William J. Moore became resident caretaker at the Tri-City Sanitary Landfill.

Deer feeding program expanded in Ocala National Forest
The Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission will join deer feed plantings in the Ocala National Forest based on a North Lake County Sportsmen's Association plan. Last year 12 to 15 acres on a Florida Power right of way hosted multiple feed plots with donations of equipment labor seed and fertilizer. As many as 59 deer were seen feeding simultaneously. Up to 500 is allocated for similar future projects through support from Sen Daniel and Rep W H Reedy, announced by O E Frye Jr executive director.

Duncan Cottrell to Attend Fine Arts Camp in Georgia

Parents invited to Eustis High Band Instrument tests
Fifth graders from Hustis schools completed tests to gauge band instrument aptitude. A Tuesday June 8 meeting in the High School Band Room with Bandmaster Walter Kinney and a music company representative will allow parent child interviews and hands on instrument tryouts. Summer lessons at no charge begin for those starting, with sessions continuing into September.
