Lake County to Host Mobile X-Ray Unit

Plans for a mobile X-ray unit were approved at a Lake County TB and Health Association meeting on May 24. The unit is expected to arrive September 15 to 22, with a peak expected daily average of 100 screenings and a total around 6000 for the period. Anyone over 15 may be scanned and location details will be announced later.

Franklin D. Kauffman son of John H. Kauffman of Eustis will graduate at Culver Military Academy Culver Indiana during Commencement June 5 9. He is among 173 cadets from 29 states and 2 foreign countries to be honored and has served in Cavalry ROTC Black Horse Troop as an NCO and earned a varsity letter while active in corps and company activities.

Ware Discusses Florida Forests and Lake County Potential

G G Ware president of the First National Bank of Leesburg addressed the Lake County Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Dutch Kitchen in Eustis. He said Lake County has unplanted forest land that could rival citrus and tourist income and noted Florida ranks only behind Oregon in forest area.

Eustis Students Earn Six Degrees This Month

Eustis can boast of at least six college graduates this month. Mary Elizabeth Burrell graduated from Florida Southern College with a B.S. in business administration and a minor in accounting. Geraldine May Marley received her degree from Southern College majoring in education. Thomas Merritt Parker will graduate from Florida State University in a large class on June 7. Maurice C. Patrick, Thomas A. Whipple, and Samuel G. Sadler will be honored by the University of Florida on June 7 with bachelor and master degrees in agriculture, pharmacy, and education respectively.

State Guard Reunion Dinner Set In Umatilla

The Florida State Guard Company B fourth battalion will hold a reunion stag supper on June 8 at 7 30 p.m. at the Umatilla Hotel following a meeting at the Florida Power Lounge. The unit formed May 22 1941 served in the war and disbanded November 14 1946. Mrs Bartlett to Teach at Eustis Elementary Next Year

Mrs Charles Bartlett will teach at Eustis Elementary School next year. A graduate of Alfred University, New York, she taught nine years in Mount Dora public schools and has been taking graduate work at Stetson University. The Bartletts and their son Jim will leave June 1 for Alfred University events, joining her mother and sister at the commencement and alumni banquet.
