Eustis High Class of 1967 Set to Graduates Night
The 1967 Eustis High School class gathers for a capstone night on June 1 at 8 p.m. at the high school before members pursue separate paths. Duncan Cottrell departs as school reporter for Presbyterian College. Major Eric H. Wieler earns a $100 Freedom Letters Award with medal for defending freedom. William Scott is honored as he nears July retirement with a gift from First State Bank. A chicken barbecue fundraiser supports Little League and a kitchen day off is planned for June 3.

Eustis High School Class of 1967 Graduates Commencement
Graduation exercises honor 72 seniors at Eustis High School on Thursday June 1 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium with Rev. Richard Turner giving the invocation and Dr. Phil Constans delivering the address. Diplomas will be presented by Eustis principal E.M. Weicher and class members announced by assistant principal Walter Kinney. Benediction by Rev. Melvin Morace and Verdie’s Grand March will close the ceremony. Class sponsors listed as Mr and Mrs Harry Dandridge, Mrs Helen Mosteller and Tommy Parker. Funeral service for William Webb Loy at St. Thomas Episcopal Church followed by burial at Greenwood. Loy, 61, a longtime Eustis resident, served as chairman of the Eustis Memorial Library board and was a former Pine Meadows Country Club director. Survivors include wife Virginia, mother Mrs J M Allen, two daughters, and three grandchildren. Funeral held Monday afternoon.

Seniors of the Eustis High School class of 1967 received multiple awards at Class Night in the school auditorium. Andy Hall earned the Arion Music Award and Danforth Award, with Steve Isted also receiving the Danforth Award. other honorees included Suzanna Hartge, Dick Helms, Maureen Connolly, Sally Ann Gwann, Bette Terrell, and Faith Zaleski. Mrs. Rena D. Poole was awarded a National Science Foundation funded eight week Modern Mathematics institute stipend, while scholarships from First State Bank, First National Bank, and H. W. Sheppard were presented to hall, Twig Knowles, and others. Bette Terrell was named valedictorian with E. M. Weichert presenting trophies for top honors.

Rep. W H Reedy of Eustis introduced legislation to raise Eustis City Commission salaries from 600 to 1200 dollars annually. The bill states current term salaries remain unchanged.

Eligibility requires at least 50 percent block development, street setback under 50 feet, a visible house number, and a clear walkway.
