The Silver State rebukes Humboldt county’s claimed nomination of Hon. D. Van Duzer for Congress, stating he was chosen by Nye county delegates and that Humboldt has no fusion ticket candidate. It notes Van Duzer’s ties to Tonopah and Nye county, and recalls his 1898 1900 services in Humboldt. The piece also covers John Sparks’s Reno speech and remarks on silver coin plans for the Philippines.

Prospect School House enlargement delayed opening until September 8 due to building changes. H B Zottmen completed a 16 by 16 addition with papering painting and wiring. The former building proved inadequate for the growing number of pupils as new families move into Prospect near Dismood and Excelsior mines.
