William Easton Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor features a long career from Quebec birth in 1854 through Ontario early life to Nevada settlement in 1875. He served as Sheriff, Assessor, then State Senator, led mining unions, supported railroad and labor legislation, and owned hotels and hardware interests.
Jacob Eggers, incumbent State Controller, narrowly shifted into public life after a mine shaft accident in Elko County. A 23 year Nevada mining veteran, he later served as Elko County Assessor for sixteen years before winning the State Controller post four years ago. Born January 1834 in Germany, he grew up in Illinois and came to Nevada in 1875. He married in Elko in 1897.

He chaired Nevada's constitutional convention and served as Secretary of State, later joining the Mint and Masonic bodies. He leaves a daughter Mrs D R Sessions and two sons M D Noteware and W C Noteware.
Joseph W. Scull at Vineyard New Jersey Notes raises 450 Indian runner ducks on 2 1/2 acres across ten houses, praising ducks over chickens for egg production. Artificial incubation and brooding built this flock in four years, with eggs described as larger and richer.
