New Strike on Adams Hill Mine Sparks Quiet Hope
Reports of a major ore strike at the Helen mine on Adams Hill two miles west of Lown emerged with cautious optimism. Owner P H. Jal, with partners J H. Groom and others, inspected the site and found a seven foot batts ledge two feet wide yielding $100 per ton in gold silver and lead. While encouraging, officials caution that no decisive payoff is yet proven, and development may reveal a richer body of ore.
