Wasatch fault blamed for Saturday quake in western states
The Salt Lake Tribune reports Saturday night's earthquake likely originated along the Wasatch fault plane stretching from Nephi to Columstn. Professor Frederick J. Pack of the University of Utah says a north south fracture exists in the earth's crust and the quake may have originated from this slip. He notes no positive proof yet but ties the disturbance to the fault.
