Oct 1 changes raise post office to second class status. Reno and Goldfield offices gain Presidential rank. Nevada State University enrollment totals 441 with 220 124 boys, 9 girls, 50 preparatory, 187 university, 9 normal. Dr Cole sues Rev Mabel Jackman for 2800 in Chicago over alleged mining scheme swindle. Tonopah Mining declares 25 cent dividend, company capitalization 1 million dollars. July 21 and Oct 21 dividends noted. Elisa Conway sues for divorce and child custody on grounds including non-support and felony conviction. Nevada Central Railway operates a 17 hp auto between Battle Mountain and Austin for six mail deliveries weekly. Southern Pacific contemplates routing freight via Bodie Wabuska to bypass Virginia & Truckee. Carson to Bodie distance 100 miles, Wabuska Bodie 65 miles. Reno City Council to seek license revocation of Oberon gambling house after minor plays there. 18 year old Andrew Young gambles away funds and returns after three days. Oberon described as state’s largest gambling house with day and night operation.
Jas. Waltera of Dufkeld Va writes that a lip cancer, once deemed incurable, was healed by Bucklen's Arnica Salve and now is perfectly well. The ad asserts surface cancers are curable with the salve and guarantees cures for burns. Available at Schneider drug store for 25 cents.
William Jennings Bryan writes to President Roosevelt urging rail rate regulation and broader reform. He argues the people must control corporations, warns that failure to act risks political death, and urges direct election of Senators with broad cross party support. The Open Letter, printed in The Commoner, underscores urgency of public interest over railroad power.
A compilation from several Nevada papers critiques campus employment rumors at Reno State University, denounces corporate railroad practices impacting Churchill to Mound House, and notes Tonopah Railroad ore shipments totaling 36 tons for the week ending Sept 24, with 1857 from Goldfield and 20 from Reveille.

John and Herman Krause, ranchers near Alliance Nebraska, were convicted of illegally fencing 4000 acres of Government land. John was fined 800 dollars and half the case cost plus 24 hours custody.
