Speculates With Estate Funds in San Francisco Court
In Judge Coffey's court on October 24, E A Borslin as executor of John K Hite's estate is accused of spending over 100 dollars without court authority. Hite died April 18 1906 in San Francisco after a life as a miner and pioneer. Berlin the longtime attorney acted as executor without bonds and claims to have received nearly 299000 and paid out about 125008 with little estate cash remaining. He allegedly bought mining stock and Rhyolite Nevada realty worth about 810000 without court order. Berlin suspended, Mercantile Trust Company named special administrator. He says investments total about 69000 in real estate and 50000 in mining stock with commissions on one stock. He claims stock proceeds sometimes went to his private account and sometimes to the estate. He turned over 100000 shares of Georgia Lee Mining to heirs’ attorneys, valued at 19000. Hite lived with an Indian companion Lucy, who sued for divorce after a costly split arising from the relationship.
