May Day Festival Delights De Burke County High School
A May Day celebration at De Burke County High School drew large mixed crowds Friday evening. Students staged interpretive dances from colonial days to modern, with lively encores and a grand parade ending in the Maypole dance. Proceeds fund the school annual The Boosts. Participants included Jean Davin as May Queen and Orril Flete as Maid of Honor among many others. Misses Palme Hill Tina Daniels and Estage Bjorn assisted with piano and dancing.

Clarence Wilson, paroled to his mother after a second degree burglary conviction, and D B Hoffman, to be paroled to his stepfather after minimum terms if transportation is provided. FP W Eastman of Barke County received a commutation to one year minimum, with parole after serving time. two to twenty years for grand larceny. Wilson and Donner Boman pleaded guilty August 4, 1920, to Cabin robbery at Philipsburg and were ordered to prison. Eastman’s auto theft case involved a Newtreen garage theft and pursuit near Cortes. the repeat offender faced 14 years maximum.
