Senate blocks Saturday half holiday proposal vote slate

A Senate vote of 6 to 11 killed the Ways and Means Committee bill to grant a half holiday for state county and municipal offices on Saturdays. Scrugham Named State Engineer Succeeding Kearney

Dean J. G. Scrugham of the University of Nevada College of Engineering is appointed State Engineer by Governor Boyle to take office May 1, replacing W. M. Kearney whose term ends March 22. Boyle cites non political reasons and notes Scrugham will take a two year leave from the university for the post amid high regard for his experience and stature.
