Grand Chapter officers elected at Carson City convocation

The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons elected officers at the Thirty-second Annual Convocation in Carson City. New officers include George Gillson as Grand High Priest and A L Fulstone as Deputy Grand High Priest with other named leaders. The Reno Council passed a new gambling ordinance raising quarterly licenses to 100 dollars and allowing 24 hour operation except Sundays. Citizens League opposes the measure and seeks a prohibitive ordinance with a $450 quarterly license tax.

Pahranagat Valley Ranch to be Formed with 5000 Acres

The Caliente Progress reports plans to file articles of incorporation for a new ranch company to take over a large stretch of the Pehranagat Valley in Lincoln County. J. P. Gardner and Frank L. Gardner of Salt Lake own the property, formerly Eiseman ranch, with 5000 acres and additional state lands. The Gardner brothers have planted 250 acres to alfalfa, 600 fruit trees, and a nursery of English walnut trees, with 700 head of stock and 200 hogs on site. Steady work supports 15 men and ample water remains for irrigation.

Rushing Work on New Railroad toward Death Valley

The Tonopah and Tidewater Railway is 40 miles from Las Vegas on the Clark road, rushing westward toward Death Valley with large work crews. Engineers expect steel soon. operations to begin in Fall. A main line heads toward Death Valley with a Bullfrog branch and plans to reach Tonopah and Goldfield next year. The track will be standard gauge using 60 pound steel.
