Western Mining World: A great deal of interest is being taken in the subject of the possible use of petroleum as a fuel for ore reduction in blast furnaces, and that interest will probably be sus tained until the problem is solved. There are occasional reports of the solution of the difficulty, but no actual use of liquid fuel in a blast furnace has yet been suc cessfully made. The high cost of coke throughout the Pacific Coast region and the development of enormous supp lies of petroleum in California and Texan have stimulated the inventive genius of many people to efforts to solve the pro blem. The benefit to the mining indus try would be incalculable.
