Nevada's Wew Dry Farm Picks Pleasant Valley Ranch

The Elko Independent reports the dry farming commission selects John Thompson's Pieanaan t valley ranch, 160 acres with 80 under cultivation, an orchard of 150 bearing fruit trees, a two acre berry patch, and rich soil. Water is ample via spring and hill reservoir, with a four room house, barn, and outbuildings. Nevada Hospital Chief Gibson Reports Two Year Administration

Superintendent O Gibson of the Nevada Hospital for Mental Diseases at Runo releases a comprehensive two year report detailing 209 patients 150 men 59 women. It notes 44 recoveries 44.80 percent of admissions and 88 admissions with 34 over 50 8 over 60 7 over 70 4 over 80 and one 100 year old patient. Per capita cost 68.12 cents daily with 20401.69 spent on improvements including a new heating plant. Legislature allotted 111300 to hospital operations with 90000 for general maintenance. The 50 page report outlines work done and ongoing needs.

A new industry emerges as gypsum is transformed into Que marble using a field proven process in Richfield Utah. Gypsum from Mann House in Ormaby County Western Nevada is shaped into slabs then heated, treated in a chemical bath to impart color and finish, producing a marble like, non absorbent material.
