Fire destroyed Schurz Nevada Reno yesterday in the annex of the new Hotel Riverside. The town once a railway siding for Rawhide travelers had five to six businesses a hotel and four saloons wiped out. Loss reaches over 20000 dollars. Cause believed to be a guest dropping a match into a waste basket. No fire mains or organization existed, bucket brigades failed to stop the blaze. Merchants plan to rebuild in the fall.

Gould and Guggenheim Agree on Railway Extension
After a recent conference between Gould and Guggenheim representatives, funds planned for a Western Pacific branch to Ely Nevada will instead extend a line from Ely to Pioche about 90 miles and feed other feeders. An Nevada Northern Western Pacific accord would spare the Gould line 132 miles into White Pine copper country. The Ely line was sought by Giroux Consolidated Copper and other Ely miners not under Guggenheim control.
