Area Mining News Reports High Grade Ore Shipments

Fleeting accumulations of high grade ore are shipped to the smelter weekly with eight cars in the current shipment. A crosscut is driven on the 600 level east of the Jackson fault, ground previously worked at Adamen I depth. Bullswhacker vein exposed for 40 feet with up to eighteen inches of high grade ore. Eureka-Uncle Sam reports large ore bodies near shale contact, two inch main widening to over two feet, with tunnels entering the shale forming a mineralized network to be developed rapidly.

Ore Shipments From Local Rail Line This Week

The local railroad delivered carload ore shipments to Utah smelters this week. Nine cars by the Eureka-Holly Mining Company and twelve cars of peras by the Richmond-Eureka Mining Company were moved.

Palisade Mail Robbery Details Unveiled

Details of a March 28 Palisade mail theft show two pouches cut open and registered mails removed. The stolen mail bound for Eureka was retrieved after a rubbish fire along the 8. P. right of way was extinguished. Roydamer, linked to prior California robberies, is suspected in the Palisade incident.

Bad Auto Accident on the Austin Summit

Lina Arena of Birch Creek Was driving home with his family in a large Hudson when the car struck rocks west of Blackbird. The left wheels were smashed as the vehicle ran off the road at high speed. Mrs Arena suffered a broken left wrist and bruises after being thrown into the path of the car. The car rolled and lodged in a deep ditch.

GRAIN CONTRACTS SET IN PERSHING

In Lovelock on July 14 ranchers in the lower valley contracted cutting harvest and threshing of wheat and barley to Watson Dayton of Yerington. The Big Five ranch alone contracted 1000 acres while Cheater Anker Ray Clemmons Philip Anker and others assigned their crops to Dayton who operates a fine combined harvester. Alfalfa harvest is strained as crews are scarce with smaller ranchers and high school boys filling hay hands, easing the labor shortage.
