Nevada Legislature Faces Near Total Renewal in 1914 Assembly and Senate
The Reno Journal reports the next Nevada Legislature will be nearly all new with 11 holdover senators, a 19 seat Senate including new districts in Esmeralda Nye and Washoe, and an Assembly growing to 44 members. Most new members are expected from Democratic counties, signaling a likely Democratic tilt in both chambers. The session also shapes a United States Senate joint ballot fight requiring 27 Newlands supporters or 30 Nixon supporters, plus elections for congressional, university, judiciary, and other state offices.

No Reduction In Live Stock Rate A Letter From A 8 House
A letter from A. 8. House agent of the Southern Pacific Company at Winnemucca clarifies that last week’s notice of July 1 livestock rate reductions from Nevada points is an error. The Star traced the reduction to Carson City, and G. W. Luce of the company denies any such announcement. Only reductions cited are in supplement No. 6 to joint tariff 151 A between Nevada points and Tonopah Goldfield points. The Directoire gown has appeared in Reno in eccentric grandeur during the Mackay party visits, with two gowns seen at social events on prominent local women. Nevada Northern Railroad seeks to block an order requiring a depot at Ely by suing in U S District Court at Carson City.
