Western Pacific surveys report five lines running down the mountain near Beckwith Pass and westward. Routes east of Beckwith Pass cross Spanish Spring Valley toward Reno. Exact crossings and the Reno route depend on grade connections. construction materials are scattered across California and immediate building is expected.

Bryan Returns Home After Europe Trip

William J. Bryan arrived in Lincoln with good health and high spirits. He confirmed plans to issue the Commoner in St. Louis as a daily during the Democratic National Convention, though not yet ready to make a formal announcement. He attributed a published Hearst paper rumor to the mistaken story.

Republican National Convention Called for June 21 1904 in Chicago

Washington reports Senator Hanna issued the call for the Republican National Convention to meet in Chicago at noon June 21 1904 to select candidates for President and Vice President. Delegates include four at large per state and two per district. Delegates must be elected at least thirty days before the convention. Hanna delays cited hotel rates.

Leasers' Mill at Tonopah Completes Modern Build

The Leasers' mill at Tonopah, turned over to the Tonopah Milling and Reduction Company, cost $75,000 and is built of steel and cement. It features ten stamps, two Huntington separators, three centrifugal separators, eight pans, two settlers, and automatic feed for ore and chemicals. Power comes from two steam engines, including a 125 horse power Desiel oil engine, delivering energy cheaply and operating 24 hours. Extraction improved from 80 percent to 86.4 percent.
