Pure mining news from shale and burka holly mines

Ore extraction continues at shale sections with high grade ore found near the lime stone contact. No. 1 raise supplies shipping ore while No. 8 drift in crushed limestone shows iron oxide impregnation and a crosscut will be driven. Shipments to smelter planned next week. At Burka Holly a 600 foot level drift aims under ore bodies as high grade ore keeps being shipped. New mill machinery tested and powered by the mine air compressor. Ruby Hill project pumps water from Locan shaft with shaft water lowered 90 feet and air connected for smooth operation.

Ore Shipments This Week To Utah Smelters

Carload ore and spel shipments moved over the local railroad this week. Four cars by Eureka-Holly, two cars by Eureka-Crocas. Twenty four cars of spel by Richmond-Eureka. In Justice Court on Wednesday the State vs Merle Wynn for intoxicating square in a place selling soft drinks. After DA Reynolds presented evidence, defense counsel Plummer moved to dismiss for insufficient proof. Judge Burdick dismissed the charge.

Farmers and Merchants National Bank Eureka Holds Annual Meeting

The Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Eureka held its annual stockholders meeting Tuesday evening. Cashier reports for the past six months showed the bank in good financial condition. Elected for the ensuing year were J Sheehan as president, J B Blaie and Walter Handley as vice presidents, and Cay Travers as cashier.

Duckwater rancher Charles Halstead weds Margaret Nelson

Last Friday Charles Halstead of Duckwater quietly married Mrs. Margaret Nelson at the county courthouse. Justice C. McDonald, of the Peace Department, officiated. Halstead, a Duckwater rancher, is joined in marriage with the daughter of Louis Lani, a Hamilton pioneer long established in the area.

John B. Sexton of San Francisco and Palmer Nevada believes a 1882 government report predicts a fortune. He has purchased 980 acres along the old American River channel in Eldorado County and, after sinking a 1200 foot tunnel, reports gold values from $16 to $70 per ton. A mill is built and mining expansion is planned. The geology suggests volcanic Neocene lava and a cave formed after gravel removal. the 1882 report notes the river channel crossing under Pacifi House and under lava masses for about ten miles southwest.

John Donnelly's Burial in Eureka Friday Death

Remains of John Donnelly from Currie White Pine County arrived in Eureka Monday and were laid to rest at the Catholic cemetery. Cause of death was an abscess of the lungs and pneumonia after seeking medical care in Salt Lake City. Funeral services held at the family home led by W. R. Reynolds with Rescue Hose Company in attendance.

John Boitano Marries Mias Vera Webb in Elko Ceremony

John Boitano and Mias Vera Webb wed in a Thursday evening ceremony at the Baptist parsonage in Elko conducted by Rev. Mitchell. The groom, a blacksmith at the Eureka-Croesus mines, plans to stay in Eureka with his family while the bride resumes teaching in Tonkin and Eureka County.

Close Reno resort after raid at Elite saloon

Following a raid at the Elite saloon in Reno, where a considerable quantity of prohibited intoxicants was found, the landlord refused to renew the lease and the establishment has been closed. Panama Canal receipts rose about 50 percent in 1920 to 10,295,000 dollars. About 2,800 vessels passed through with a net tonnage of 10,378,000 and they carried 11,226,000 tons of cargo.

The Big Six mill at Lynn Eureka County has started up and will run around the clock. Reports indicate a large work force will be deployed and the mine has enough ore blocked out to sustain operations indefinitely, aiming to become one of the state’s major gold producers.
