Eureka’s Windfall mine fuels Nevada town’s promise of prosperity
In Austin Nevada last week a Reveille representative reported miners expect Eureka Kurcks to surge back to old prosperity. Windfall mine is nearly developed and a mill is being erected as a crosscut tests its bonanza potential. Raby Hill tonnage keeps the Eureka Palisade railroad busy, while an Ely to Goldfield line could connect Eureka to the north. Nevada operators return for tours as Windfall draws attention from veteran miners. Eureka County adopts a new salary law for county officers and awaits the governor’s signature after legislative passage.

Miners Discharged For Stealing Rich Ore at Helena Mine
Tonopah Nevada February 20 More than half the workers at the Broken Hills mine near Helena were discharged after being accused of high grading. One suspect confessed leading to mass firings and possible arrests. Ore valued over a thousand dollars was taken, with some blocks worth more than five dollars per pound. The Broken Hills is owned by the Windfall operators. Heavy thaw delays delivery of machinery and lumber for the Windfall cyanide mill five miles south of Bareks, hampering construction.
