Superintendent D States reports continued progress on driving the main tunnel at the Uncle Sam mine property. The ore ledge above the tunnel has been demonstrated for over 400 feet with values up to 160 dollars per ton. Miners will be increased next week as crushed limestone is reached and work improves daily.

No ore shipments were sent over the local railway this week due to current conditions likely delaying shipments for another week. Charles Treloar pled guilty to peace and order violations in Justice Court and paid a 26 dollar fine plus 20 dollars costs. The People’s Market installs new Toledo counter scales guaranteeing precise weight to fractions of an ounce. A J Pearce, Western Pacific rep, visited Eureka to review tonnage matters and claimed not to be aware of large prospective ore shipments. High water and melting snows washed out a culvert near Blackburn, delaying the afternoon train to Kursk until 30 p.m. A Palisade telephone report at 1 30 p m said the track was clear and motor car should reach Eureka about 3 p m. Northern Nevada endured a bitter cold snap with readings near five and six below zero in parts, ten below at Romano ranch, Diamond Valley, and twenty below at Elko. The Knights of Pythias anniversary ball, hosted by Beatific Lodge No 7 and Eureka Temple No 15, is planned for the New Pavilion on Friday, February 1 5, with arrangements to ensure a good time. A warm spell Thursday broke the recent zero weather, Friday's sun brought pleasant conditions, and locals anticipate an early spring despite lingering winter.

General Manager J E B Sexton and D D Muir visited to study rail connection from slag dumps south of town to the north depot. A favored route along the Richmond works line would require grading but could handle the 60 000 tons of slag. The Richmond Eureka Company has moved arsenic rich slag to Utah shelters, with arsenic valued at 6 to 12 cents per pound, and shipments have risen to 800 to 1000 tons monthly with a projected 25 000 tons this year.

The State of Nevada v Eureka Nevada Mining Company proceeded in Justice Court before Judge Burdick with Edna Covert Plummer counsel. Delbert States alleged a violation of the Semi Monthly Pay Day Act for $85 in unpaid wages. the jury was waived and the defendant found guilty with a $100 fine and $21 costs. ten days to appeal to the District Court. Brakeman Pleads Guilty to Box Car Burglary
B R Mulkey a brakeman on the Southern Pacific railroad was charged with second degree burglary after being caught stealing a case of Wine of Cardui from a box car at Ryndon. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced by Judge Taber to one to five years in the state penitentiary. He is from Ogden where he has a wife and child.
