Cattlemen Lobby for Five to Ten Year Land Leases
Senators Deitrich and Millard of Nebraska and Western cattlemen pressed the President and Interior Department in Washington on a proposed bill to lease grazing lands for five or ten years at one to six cents an acre. The measure caps at 20,000 acres per party, with homesteaders protected. A House committee chair, Lacey, is expected to introduce it soon. Meanwhile Dr Lorenz reported relief for a 4 year old girl after successfully realigning her crippled foot in New York.

The Idaho State Board of Pardons, by a 2 to 1 vote, grants full pardon to "Diamondfield Jack" Davis for the 1896 Cassia county murders of John Wilson and Daniel Cummings. The decision cites J. E. Bowers' confession and prior commutation. Governor-elect John Sparks of Nevada funded the defense. The case, long seen as sensational, ends with Davis freed after years of appellate battles.
