Nevada to Benefit From Lower Freight Rates
San Francisco November 23 Judges Ross Gilbert and Morrow held that none of the railroad companies' allegations were proven and refused to enjoin the Interstate Commerce Commission from cutting rates on key commodities between Missouri River points and terminals in Washington Oregon Nevada and Arizona. The court found the commission acted within its discretion even if rates might be arbitrary, and dismissed the petitions. The case awaits the next steps as new commerce court forms in January. Rates from eastern defined territory to Elko Winnemucca Reno and from Sacramento to Reno Winnemucca Elko will take effect December 1 as ordered by the commission.
