Adams Hill Mines Sold To McQuillan and Wittenberg
Last Saturday Alex Fraser and Madeline Fraser sold half interest in the Aura Cyanide and West Cyanide mines and one third in the Western Union mine on Adams Hill to J. McQuillan of Tonopah. McQuillan and F. Wittenberg plan to deepen the Cyanide shaft to 296 feet or drill a new 4 by 6 foot double shaft to the same depth, then drift to develop the mine. They also aim to build a mill to process low grade ore exposed by ore shipments. The mines, producing for about a decade, have yielded around $90,000 in ore and $200,000 from smelters, with some ore assaying up to 13 ounces gold and 300 ounces silver per ton, and 20 percent lead. Shipments in three years averaged roughly $125 per ton. Experts say the development justifies investment, linking the King Lear and Silver Lick regions and promising a valuable field for capital in the Adams Hill area. The sellers held 50 percent in two claims and one third in another.

Keep Your Money at Home Dramatizes Local Circulation
A single gold five dollar piece travels through Domeville in a chain of local transactions. A drummer pays a hotel bill, the cashier passes it to a butcher, then a shoe store, hardware, hatter, grocer, dry goods, drayman, doctor, druggist, bank, and finally returns to the hotel man before vanishing with a farmer who ships it away. The tale ends with the coin leaving town forever.

Ely-Goldfield Route Still in Question as Engineer Visits Hamilton
August 14 W Q Lackhardt of the Ely-Goldfield Railroad engineering corps travels to Hamilton to survey mineral resources and consider building the line via Hamilton rather than White River and Durrant Creek. The report could shift tonnage prospects, potentially opening Hamilton Eureka and Bareka camps for major ore shipments and regional prominence.
