Mrs H A Knight Hosts Indie's Party Night
Mrs H A Knight entertained a party of sixteen Indies on Friday evening. Miss Mary Fraser won the consolation and Miss Annie Regli took the soap bubble contest honors. Refreshments were served and each guest received a bon box with a fortune cake. The gathering ended late with high praise for the hostess.

Drowning of A R Wright at Salt Lake bathing facility
The Salt Lake Herald reports the drowning of A R Wright known as Rose after he slipped and struck his head on ice at the Sanitate bathhouse walls, fell unconscious, and could not be helped. A former resident who left the area twelve years ago for cattle work in Rabys Valley, West Virginia, he is survived by a widow, two children, and his brother John T Wright. Deceased was 52 and a native of West Virginia. Tracy Mueh’s condition is favorable following spine surgery in San Francisco, with recent exams showing promising recovery of limb use.

Obituary: Col Stephen Downey of Wyoming Dead in Denver
Colonel Stephen Wheeler Downey longtime Wyoming public servant and lawyer died August 5 1902 in Denver Colorado after surgery. He served as congressional delegate from Wyoming and held multiple territorial and state offices. He leaves two daughters Mrs B L Smith Eureka Nevada and Mrs L Hooks Douglas Arizona and ten children. Funeral services in Laramie included Masonic and Episcopal rites. Born July 25 1839 Westport Maryland.

Rev Mr Greenfield of the Presbyterian Church of Elko led afternoon services at Kareke bar Ruby Hill. The Christian Endeavor Society was organized with 25 charter members and officers elected Recording Secretary Mrs C H Cronant Corresponding Secretary Miss Kate Swick Treasurer Miss Lizzie Pepper. Greenfield planned two weeks in western Elko County to interest the Elko Church.

Homer Riddle Exits Lovelock to Donnelly Mountain
Last week’s Surviver reports Homer T. Riddle aged 18 left Lovelock. Beno Journal notes he went to Donnelly mountain to write up the new strike. Miss Brown’s name becomes Mrs Homer T. Riddle per law. A father’s letter to her offers his name and legal steps later. A highwayman stopped a Tonopah stage on Tuesday night about a quarter mile from town, stole Wella Fargo & Co. treasure box, no passengers aboard, robber’s tracks show return to Tonopah.
