MAY EXTEND E P RAILWAY TO ELY AND EUREKA
G J Hagaman, Eureka and White Pine Stage Co, reports surveyors are preliminarily surveying a line from Ely in White Pine County to Eureka. They camped near Round Springs after working in Jake's Valley on Tuesday. Surveyors are workers for the White Pine Copper Co led by M L Requa, also president of the Eureka & Palisade Railway. Copper mines at Ely spur speculation of a longer line, as an experimental plant at the ore reduction works nears completion and a key machinery piece awaits arrival for startup next week to test the process. The outcome will influence whether a large reduction plant is built soon.
