Will Walker Married in San Francisco Ceremony

The San Francisco Examiner reports the marriage of William G. Walker and Elizabeth Hickey in San Francisco on April 20. They wed at the bride’s mother’s home at 2626 Howard Street, then departed for a honeymoon in southern California. Walker, a Eureka native, has risen to Chief Field Deputy under the Collector of Internal Revenue in San Francisco, with the bride working as a clerk in his office. Eureka friends extend congratulations and best wishes.

Domestic Science Luncheon Showcases Student Service

The Domestic Science division hosted a luncheon Friday with a larger menu reflecting yellow and white decorations. Three courses were served by the waiters, costing $3.00 for the eight guests Estelle Minoletti, the Konteas, Tina Damete, Mabel Moore, Annie Pratt, Margaret Laird, Annie Porch, Elfrida Simonsen and Mrs. Hunting. Baby banquets already served have been popular, with plans for more soon.

Mr Fulton concludes a twenty year study on Elko County shale promising vast oil potential. He notes the shale might yield oil at least a hundred times Kern County’s historic output, assuming the low estimate of daily treatment capacity reaches twenty thousand tons.

Why Gasoline Price Dropped in Reno and Eureka

Report notes a four cent drop in Reno gasoline after a Texas shipment arrived at landed cost four cents under local wholesale. Dealer cites Oklahoma and Texas quotes around fourteen cents higher prior to carload order. Reno price near twenty two cents per gallon plus freight. Eureka currently at sixty two cents. Elko to Eureka freight cut from twenty four to seventeen dollars per ton may trigger further decreases. Eureka garage men expect price cuts if Elko supply lowers costs, as demand drops with higher car usage for business only.

Miss Sadler Undergoes Hip Amputation in Carson City

Miss Bertha Sadler daughter of the late Rheinhold and Louise Sadler of Carson City and sister of Edgar Sadler of Diamond Valley had her left leg amputated near the hip at Carson City on Tuesday. Diagnosed embeliam of the arteries the operation was a last resort to save her life as she neared the end. Thursday papers said her condition remained serious but she had a fighting chance. Miss Sadler has been a clerk and typist in the State Surveyor General office for ten years.

Base Ball Meeting Called for Eureka Club Reorganization

Residents of Eurekans witnessed the year’s only total lunar eclipse visible in the western United States. The moon entered Earth's shadow around 10 p m with the total phase about an hour later and clear skies allowed a good viewing. An eclipse will occur again on October 16 but not be visible in the west.

Death of Henry Northey in Victoria reported for Eureka

A telegram from Eureka states Henry Northey died in Victoria British Columbia on April 20. His body is en route to Eureka with his brother John Northey and is expected on Monday's train. Interment is planned at the I C O F cemetery beside relatives.

Carson City April 19 The Louisiana Consolidated Mining Company with liabilities of 500000 and assets undetermined has passed into the hands of a receiver 5 R Moore of Tonopah appointed by Federal Judge Farrington to take charge of its affairs at the instigation of A C Wappler and other creditors The company formed years ago to operate mines and a smelter at Tybo Nevada Large blocks of stock were sold in the East and California and glowing reports from the mine circulated.

Water Right Surveyor Permits Applied

Carson City April 19 an amendment to Nevada water law passed last session requires that all maps surface measurements be made by a designated water right surveyor who pays a five dollar fee.
