Ruby Hill in Coal Shipments Halted by Switchmen Strike

The switchmen's strike has stopped coal shipments from Utah to Ruby Hill. Only 100 tons arrived this week, with Palisade deliveries earlier. Repair work continues at the Locan shaft 900 level, ore ships to the smelter, and surface buildings are being prepared for a full work crew. Fire tanks are being installed and payroll is expanding as conditions improve.

Eureka Prince Mining Co Eyes Modern Plant at Silver Lick

Eureka Prince Mining Co announces plans to equip the Silver Lick properties with new machinery and a deeper shaft under Major Catlin and James Huebner. The company expects large profits as high grade ore is exposed at the mine bottom and shipments begin after the new shaft is completed.

Remains Found In Prospect Hole Near Cedars

Remains unearthed by the Johnson brothers Oliver and Ted about a mile north of town near the Cedars were deemed human by Dr. C Mantor after a Tuesday inspection. The body was buried in a shallow old prospect hole wrapped in a hair mattress with denim overalls buttons suggesting a man, possibly an Indian, with speculation tying it to a 40 year old man named Jackson who vanished after a gambling spree. No identification yet and no confirmation of gender or identity.

Eureka Nevada Mine acquires new property expansion

A new tunnel site on the Eureka Nevada Mining property was surveyed this week by A G Burritt and D States. The tunnel will cut the first ore body about 100 feet from the mouth and extend 400 feet into a thin ore zone. The deal includes Liberty, Pack Saddle and related claims linking a 4500 foot ore zone toward Hamburg. Officials expect rapid improvements and a 150 foot shaft with drift work toward Hamburg. The company officers are W J Robinson, A G Burritt, William Storey Sr, and W C Albertson, all of Salt Lake City.

It adopts 1,400,000 shares at ten cents with 760,000 treasury shares and plans a shaft to 100 feet with fault and porphyry contact exploration. F T Torpey of Ban Prat el seo, on behalf of San Francisco associates, purchased the Uncle Sam Consolidated mining property from Mrs H M Schneider. Development will start soon. old tunnel remains to be extended 159 200 feet to test ore bodies. Property on Perspect Mountain near Eureka is touted as a major future producer with plans to form the Eureka Uncle Sam Consolidated Mining Company.

Death of James Murray at 74 in Eureka

James Murray aged 74 died Thursday at 10 am in County Hospital after a period as a private patient. Funeral in Catholic cemetery. An Ireland native who came to New York as a boy, he moved to Eureka about 45 years ago and lived in Secret Canyon for 42 years. He never married and left mining property split between his sister Mrs S T Potter of Salt Lake City and his niece and nephews, children of J C Brown of California.

WORMER RESIDENTS CONTRACT FOR HIGHWAY WORK

The Highway Commission at Caron awarded a single contract for a 27.5 mile highway segment from Zola to Mill City in Pershing County. The bid totals $94,249. State Engineer Scrugham and Deputy J Ve toured the region discussing charter requirements in the Red Cross room of the county courthouse. They traveled from Efko toward Tonopah to attend a water rule hearing, noting bad roads. Favorable Assay of Newark Rock Sent for Analysis

A sample valued at 59 dollars in alloy and 21 dollars in lead was sent to Clarence Johnson, assayer, by Albert Mau of Strawberry in Newark valley. The rock comes from a claim owned by Mau and Angelo Debernardt near Debernardt’s ranch, featuring a quartzite formation about five inches wide.
