Eureka County Chamber Pushes Nevada Rail Repairs and Mail Service

The Eureka County Chamber of Commerce reports swift actions by the Public Service Commission to repair the Eureka-Nevada line between Palisade and Alpha. Orders call for at least ten workers near Slough and twenty between Palisade and Alpha with daily work trains to reopen the line. A March 26 progress report is requested, while officials inspect repairs at Blackburn and plan continuing service restoration and a safer telephone line.

Lewis Berolo Wedding in Eureka Ends With New Business Venture

Mr Elwood J Lewis and Miss Tranquilla Elien Berolo were wed by Judge T A Burdick at the bride’s home in Eureka. The groom, a longtime Eureka resident, recently bought into Peagies Market and now leads Lewis and DePaoli after selling an interest to Charles Depsoll. The bride helped run the family mercantile business and is praised for her business aptitude and social circle. The couple will reside in Eureka.

First Train Since Washout Reaches Eureka Early Afternoon

Local Agent Williams of the Eureka Nevada Railway said a mixed passenger and freight train left Palisade at 8:30 this morning with five passengers on board and reported safe past Alpha Station. The train is expected to reach Eureka early this afternoon with delayed merchandise. Another train is planned for Monday, but regular service details are unavailable.

Fulmer Named U S Marshal in East Ely Appointment

Fulmer of East Ely is named successor to United States Marshal Thomas Pickett who resigns effective April 1. Fulmer has lived in White Pine County for about fifteen years and mostly worked as a conductor for the Nevada Northern Railroad. Lyman Fulton of Eureka may become one of Fulmer's deputies.

Local railway president reported dead

From Monday's Reno Gazette it is learned that J. Eb. Sexton of the Eureka Nevada Railway was called to San Francisco from Palizad last Sunday owing to the death of George R Whittell, president of the Eureka Nevada Railway Company, in that city following an influenza attack. No further particulars were given by the Gazette.

County Board to Study Two Route Costs at Next Meeting

The cost of the two routes will be examined in detail at the board of county commissioners regular meeting. Ways and means will be decided upon after full discussion of the matter.

Local railway issues new tariff supplement in Nevada

Public Service Commission of Nevada filed on March 17 1922 a tariff supplement by Eureka Nevada Railway Company to tariff sheet No 180 effective May 1 1922. The change lowers several local freight rates and revises classifications affecting hay gasoline cement lime salt wool livestock and mixed carloads with critiques noting inequities and comparisons to prior rates and neighboring lines.

In Oakland on March 18 1922 a son was born to Mrs C R Heidrich formerly Miss Adelaide Wilhelm of Eureka. Eureka merchant A Berolo issues a patron notice in today's Sentinel about perm service. Eureka County Chamber of Commerce at March 30 meetings will support establishing a Star Route to Eureka from Elke and push improving Eureka Palisade road as the southern Eureka County outlet.

Eureka Uncle Sam Mine Advances Toward Hamburg Shaft

Superintendent D States reports day and night shifts, averaging ten feet daily in the Eureka Uncle Sam mine. The main tunnel will reach the Friday shaft in the old Hamburg mine in forty to fifty days, unlocking access to Hamburg workings. Five ore bodies in the east drift indicate large milling tonnage and high grade ore with new prospects under development. Three feet of snow hampers shipments until roads improve.

Berald Stores reopen after arranging finances at Eureka

A. Berolo of Eureka Nevada announces the Berald stores have resumed business after settling financial affairs with creditors. He invites former and new patrons to trade and asks all debts to be settled at their earliest convenience. March 21 1022.
