The steamer Robarts returned Saturday from a trip to Astoria bringing freight for Wm. Kyle & Sona Co. P. Werlich, commander in the tary, passed through Florence last week en route to Heceta for lighthouse inspections. J. G. Peterson, formerly second Mustant keeper at Heceta, has resigned and moved to Drain with family. Florence school opened for fall term with Miss Gertrude Hamble of Eugene in charge and Miss Gertrude Lehreuder teaching primary. North Fork school directors failed to secure a satisfactory teacher and will skip this term, planning six months next spring. A telehone line construction is planned from J. Wor’s place on Upper North Fork.

Shotgun Accident Causes Leg Wound in Minerva Woman
Mrs. Z C Akerly of Minerva was accidentally shot in the left leg by a loaded shotgun that fell and discharged while she was handling clothing. The wound, described as ragged, was treated at Florence by Dr. Edwards and she is recovering. Funds for connecting with the Indian Creek line were raised by residents of Upper North Fork and Iudian Creek.
