Springfield Woman Fined for Larceny

Mrs. Moody of Springfield was fined 25 and costs by Justice Bryson for larceny after a Southern Pacific crew’s supplies vanished. A search found soap, tea, spices, matches, canned goods, and pans Moody had shipped from Hyland’s station.

Mrs. Fred C. Bean Dies at Mapleton

Word reached Eugene that Mrs. Fred C. Bean died at Mapleton at 10:30 last night before a physician arrived. She leaves her husband two children and many relatives. No funeral plans yet, but burial is likely in Eugene.

In a hop yard test this year a grower reports 700 pounds more hops per acre with his home made fertilizer from Eugene Chemical Works. Harold Wagner age 13, son of deputy county surveyor Geo H Wagner, injured by a gun accident while hunting on Sunday. Dr Selover treated the wound. Arrest in Dubois Conrad Case Increases in Oregon

Irving Dubois penner brother of Floyd Bender in county jail on a charge of taking Mabel Conrad from Marcola for immoral purposes was arrested at The Dalles this afternoon on a similar charge and will arrive here tomorrow, in custody of Deputy Sheriff Wood, who will testify in both cases.

Government irrigation experiment planned near Eugene

Uncle Sam through Albert L. Stover of the irrigation department selects a site near Eugene for a Willamette valley irrigation trial. An expedition with Hensill and others examined the Roseman rapids area to assess water access from the Rossman rapid. If successful, the project could expand river water to thousands of acres between Eugene and Junction City, boosting local wealth.
