Seattle Welcomes Visiting Fleet With Price Protections

Seattle announces that visitors for the Atlantic Battleship Fleet arrival on May 23 will enjoy city hospitality and capped hotel restaurant rates. A parade, grandstand and seating plans for 10,040 spectators are arranged with tickets sold by mail at 1.00 each. Aquatic events include bay races and a Northwest log rolling championship at Woodland Park with ship decks used as viewing points.

Band Saws Supplant Circular Ones In California Mills

Large California sawmills widely adopt band saws replacing circular models for big logs. Band saws, six to eight inches wide, operate over pulleys with water cooling and deliver 30,000 to 40,000 feet daily while using 25 to 40 percent less power.
