Nomination conventions urged for city council races
In today’s Guard, calls go out for nominating non-partisan candidates in the first, second and third wards for the April municipal election. Third ward convenes at city hall tonight at 7 30, first ward tomorrow at East Eleventh street bosshouse, and second ward tomorrow at city hall. No fourth ward meeting called. The process questions legality under a new law requiring nominations 30 days before the election, with some arguing notices were not given seven to ten days prior. Petitions may nominate city recorder and city treasurer 15 days before vote if conventions are illegal, though those offices will still be chosen alongside councilmen.

Extension of Sewer on Jefferson Street in City
The sewer committee moves to extend the Jefferson street sewer from West Eighth to West Eleventh or Twelfth street. City Surveyor Collier will survey the route and laterals in adjacent alleys. The council will review costs and likely order the extension to drain surplus water as rapid growth areas demand drainage. A tile drain line and surface water catch basins will be added along the pipes.
