Immense Power to Be Generated on McKenzie
Oregon City engineer Emery C. Dre and W Z Campbell returned from a McKenzie trip to Eugene, filing five water power site claims below McKenzie Bridge to near Dutch Henry’s place. Sites total about 80,000 horsepower with ditches ranging two to three and a half miles long and water rights of 2,200 to 3,700 cubic feet per second. Possible dam would form a large lake and aligns with Willamette Valley Co plans for a McKenzie electric railway toward Blue River mines. If Duke Dye’s employer is the Willamette Valley Co or United Railways Co, these canals could power operations or cars on a new line.
