Election notes show wide county by county split in Oregon
Sheriff Smith stood as the lone Democrat in Secay county offices, while the legislature bloc and county chamberlain carried the vote. Multnomah backed the U of C appropriation by 8500, and many eastern counties supported it. Linn and Benton favored big margins against the measure. The U of C bill was defeated in Linn by 1000 to 1500. Precincts varied wildly, Reston and Tallman voting heavily against. In Benton Republicans swept several offices. Hawley and Chamberlain figures dominate in the House race, with Kee R. W. at the corner. Final timber land proofs filed in Eugene and nearby areas.
