Rush to Secure Land Allotments in Shoshone Reserve

Shoshone Wyoming July 16 registration for lands in the Shoshone or Wind River Indian Reservation began at multiple towns. Officials expect about 40,000 registrations for homes with a July 31 closing at 6 pm. Drawing starts August 4 and runs to August 11 when the reservation opens. About 1,000,000 acres open with 265,000 to 66,000 acres irrigable. The plan aims for a highly successful Indian land opening.

Judge Hunt orders no delay in land fraud trials

Portland July 17 Federal Judge Hunt announced trials will begin tomorrow. If defendant Martin Hoge who claims illness at Medford is absent his 41000 bail bond may be forfeited. Medical exams show Hoge ill but not dangerously so with no kidney inflammation. An examination by Dr Jones confirms Hoge can be brought to Portland without risking his life. Other cases include Potter dismissal on jeopardy grounds and pending pleas for Finch and Blauvelt. Ormsby likely to plead guilty. Senator Mays case moves on with a demurrer and plea in abatement.

First Degree Murder Charged in Seattle Case

Seattle July 17 Esther Mitchell and Mrs Creffield were charged with murder in the first degree in an information filed in the superior court by the district attorney this morning. Newberg Or July 17 the remains of George Mitchell who was killed by his sister Kether Mitchell at Seattle were interred here this afternoon at public expense beside his mother in the Friends graveyard.

Roseburg Oregon July 17 a southbound freight train passed a wood station near Anlauf yesterday afternoon Arthur Fowl sat on the cupola of the caboose and was knocked off by a wood delivery car. He died en route to the temporary hospital at Oakland. He was a native of Ohio and has a brother in Seattle.
