Reno dispatch reports Tex Rickard leaning to disqualifying Jeffries for seconds interference after the second knockdown, contending Johnson was victorous before the ten count. He cites film to show he intervened as Johnson struck third time. He downplays agitation over pictures as advertising.
Cheyenne July 6 Sam Lang ford offers a $20 000 side bet for a match with Jack Johnson. If accepted the fight would take place in Cheyenne during the frontier celebration late August or about a month later. Johnson spoke to a crowd of about five thousand including one thousand soldiers from Fort D A Russell. Architect J R Ford of Eugene engaged by Springfield school board to plan a new high school building. Plans by Portland architects declined as Ford's were chosen. Contract to be let late this month with completion by December 1. Building to be 101 by 110 feet, two stories high.
Kansas City July 6 Edward Baker 47 fatally wounded Ruby Hirsch 22 after she did not keep a luncheon engagement. The shooting occurred today with Baker taking the action. Hirsch died of injuries, authorities began inquiries into motive and possible charges.
A Watertown dispatch reports a cyclone wrecked a circus last night near St. Paul injuring about twenty, with one dead. The injured were staff members and performers. the disaster disrupted the show and prompted state relief efforts.
Kansan City July 6. A jury found the seized flour adulterated and misbranded as charged by the government.
Indianapolla reports that on a July 6 practice spin at the motor speedway, Thomas Kincead, 44, a National, ran off the track and was killed.
Chicago wheat prices for July and September show futures at 107 3 8 for July, 102 3 4 for September, 108 4 for December, and 107 1 8 for May, reflecting early summer trading.

They plan extensive development including sewers and piped water, and possibly an electric dynamo at the falls for house lighting.

L. D. Stone a timberman from Tacoma and his family left for home after a trip to Eugene and Lorane where his brother M. B. Stone lives. They report a fine trip despite dust and poor roads from Toledo to Portland. The 1907 Cadillac was used and were accompanied by his brother.

Portland Maine July 6. A law enacted by the 1597 legislature bans the exhibition of prize fight pictures in the state.
The Fort Worth city commission approved an ordinance prohibiting exhibition of the Jeffries Johnson pictures. Officials cited concerns over public order and decency. The measure was approved today amid debate in Fort Worth Texas.
The Eugene Elks plan a big jinks at Stafford's grove Mohawk valley next Sunday. A special train will depart Eugene at nine in the morning and return late in the day. About 200 to 300 Elks are expected for a strictly stag outing. Committees have prepared for weeks and aim for a successful event.
