Lumbering Notes From Cottage Grove Western Oregon
The Chambers Lumber Company at Dorena under Fred Russell completed 2000 feet of logging road into the forest and plans a new furnace at the Dorena laning mill. An electrical dynamo has been installed powering mill and store, with extensive lumber docks and a dry storage area. The Brown Lumber Company will relocate its logging camp near Taylor’s Bour along the O and B railroad, adding fourteen camps. Output is expected at 18,000 to 30,000 feet of logs with two donkey engines, two years before the next move.
