Eastern Oregon Industrial College Bill Fails in House
Special to the Guard from Salem February 9. The measure to establish an industrial college in Eastern Oregon failed on final passage and a motion to reconsider the vote failed. Lawmakers from Lane Benton Polk and others opposed the Union site arguing it would divert from existing state institutions. Proponents say preserving strong existing schools would better serve education with two strong colleges rather than splitting efforts.
