Senate anti pass bill fails by one vote in Oregon senate

The Oregon Senate narrowly defeated the anti pass bill by 15 to 14 despite efforts by Hedges to rally support. An amendment granting passes to state officials nullified the measure. The vote remains the season’s closest, with party dynamics noted among listed senators. The House meanwhile backed H B 392 seeking to revoke perpetual franchises, while a separate equal suffrage resolution advanced after a tense tally.

Debate named legislators from Bingham to Halnes, reflecting a split over direct vote versus party choice. The piece notes possible further action and a looming public vote.
